Abstract

The availability offishin a formoftragedy of commons. To maintainavailability,fishermen are
faced with theoptiontoput its own interestsin the form ofexploitingandconsuming
fishorputcommon interestsin order to maintain the availabilityof fishin conjunction withother
parties. This studyis intends to determinethe main motiveof fishermeninan effort to maintainthe
availability offish. Miniresearchcarried outat Kamal Muara,West Jakarta, a fishermen district
area. The mini research employsurvey method. The results show that thetrustmotive and
economic motives are dominant in protecting the environment.
