POTENSI PERAYAAN TAHUN BARU IMLEK DI KAWASAN PECINAN SEMARANG
Abstract
The Minister of Culture and Tourism stated that the government increased the allocation of Indonesian tourism promotion budget in 2005 twice of the budget in 2004. It shows the government’s great concern on Indonesian tourism. The minister also stated that by such promotion donation, the government would be able to promote Indonesian tourism abroad, specifically to China, India, and Middle East. China has been a target of Indonesian tourism as he thinks that the potential tourism in China is considered good along with the number of the Chinese tourists abroad that reach 20 million people per year, while Indonesian tourism so far only attracts about 80.000 tourists from China. Therefore, it takes some efforts to attract more Chinese tourists. One of them is by using the attraction of the celebration of Chinese tradition like the Chinese New Year (Sin Tjia), as the Chinese is famous of their solid family relationship.
