WARGRAVE’S STRUGGLE FOR JUSTICE IN AGATHA CHRISTIE’S AND THEN THERE WERE NONE

Abstract

In this research, the writer discusses the struggle of Wargrave to demand justice in Agatha Christie’s  And Then There Were None. The focus of this study is the cause of Wargrave’s struggle, the effect of Wargrave’s struggle, and the last is the method of Wargrave’s struggle for justice. This study uses a qualitative method and applies sociological approach. From the analysis it can be concluded that there are three cause of Wargrave’s struggle. The first cause is that there are still crime cases that are untouchable by the law, and the second cause is Wargrave wants to change the mindset of his society that the laws apply to everyone without exception, and the third cause is to bring justice to the victim. There are two effects of Wargrave’s struggle. The first effect of Wargrave’s struggle is that he lost his life for his reputation. The second effect of Wargrave’s Struggle is police can not investigate his case and make his society terrified. The method of Wargrave’s struggle for justice is punish and execute criminals that come from different social classes. The finding of this research is Wargrave’s Struggle is succed, his manuscript that contain about his plan and action is discover and publish into the public. His action inspires the society to punish every criminal that made mistake.
