GENDER DISCRIMINATION IN LITTLE WOMEN MOVIE (2019) BY GRETA GERWIG: AS A FEMINISM STUDY

Abstract

Feminism is one of the problems that happened in women's daily lives, especially gender discrimination. The gender discrimination found can be in the form of economic, social, or cultural. This study discusses the gender discrimination that occurs in the Little Women Movie, especially in the main character Jo. The object to be studied is in the form of injustice received by Jo in publishing writing and being single. The findings show that Jo finds injustice when he wants to publish his story because it is not based on like society. Besides that, Jo also wants to live independently without a man in her life. The cause of this problem is the patriarchal society that dominates society. In this case, the researchers concluded that women must marry and cannot live alone.
