ABSTRACT

 

The title of this study is The Values of Heroism As Psychological Study in Wolfgang Peterson's Troy Movie. The objectives of the study are to find out the characteristic in heroism, to find out the action of heroism, to find out the cause of heroism, to find out the impact of heroism in Troy movie. To get data the writer uses method of the study that is heroism as formal object and the movie Troy as material object. Achilles is a hero in Trojan War. His purposes involved in Trojan War  becomes a great hero remembered in history. Achilles is a strong and brave soldier. He is a half of God who has excelent fighting skill. He never serves himself to the King. In every war, he leads his army to fight for him, not for the king.

Main character is the most important and complex character in the movie because he/she appears more often than the other character. Achilles characters are strong, independent, loving man but arogant and often loose temper.

In Adler's theory that will to power is based on inferiority that leads in two ways. If someone could overcome his/her inferiority, it will lead him/her to be superior. But if someone could not overcome his/her inferiority, it will lead him/her to be aggressive, criminal or even in a low level. Achilles overcomes his inferiority that leads him to be superior and makes him a great hero in a lifetime.
