This thesis presents “The Conflicts of the Main Character as The Effect of Her Personality in Sophie Kinsella’s Confession of A Shopaholic”. The story tells about a shopaholic woman that has a financial problem. The aim of this thesis is to find out general description of Rebecca Bloomwood as the main character along with her personality changing.

The descriptive qualitative research is used to gain the references relate to the object of the analysis. The structural approach is used to describe and learn the structural elements, such as character, characterization, and also conflict. Meanwhile, the psychological approach is used to analyze Rebecca Bloomwood’s personality. The discussion was begun by analyzing the character, characterization, conflict and the changing of Rebecca Bloomwood’s personality as the main character in the story

After analyzing the novel, the result indicates that Rebecca Bloomwood is described as a developing character. she is described as she has not any control to herself to stop shopping; she likes to avoid her financial problems; a dreamer; selfish and childish. As developing character, Rebecca Bloomwood’s personality is changing as brave, wise and mature than before
