The conflict of the main character in “Remember Me” by Allen Coulter (Psychological analysis)

Abstract

This thesis aimed to discuss the conflict of the main character in “Remember Me” by Allen Coulter (Psychological analysis). The main purpose of the study is to analyze Remember Me movie and discuss the conflict that happened and that are experienced by the main character, Tyler Hawkins. It also includes the effects of psychological conflict of the main character in the movie.

In analyzing Remember Me, the writer uses two methods namely methods of the study and method of approach. The writer uses two approaches. They are structural approach and psychological approach. Structural approach is applied to analyze the character, especially the main character and conflict. The psychological approach is applied to analyze the psychological condition of the main character and the conflict of the main character in Remember Me by Allen Coulter (Psychological analysis). And the former method refers to the way of collecting data and information which are related to study through some books and also the internet.

Finally, the analysis shows the conflicts may have good and bad influence for us. It even gives effects to our psychological condition or feeling. Anyone may experience conflicts which influence or give effect in many ways. The writer divides conflict in to parts. They are internal conflict and external conflict.

The internal conflict of Tyler Hawkins id the conflict with his father, it began his brother committed to suicide because of his father didn’t care about talent of his son. Their conflict showed more, when Charles did the same thing in Caroline. This makes Tyler concerned and angry to his father with this situation. And the internal conflict also showed with his girl friend, Ally, when she has known, because Tyler approaches her, after her father (Neil) visited in Tyler’s apartment.

The other external conflict is her conflict to the society. Such as his conflict with Neil (Ally’s father), his uncontrolled emotion at the Caroline classroom, and his behavior on his father’s employees at father’s office.
