Abstract

Supervisor :Agnes Widyaningrum, SE, S.Pd, M.Pd.The writer chose the title since there is a lot of code mixing inthe interview Cinta Laura with VOA Indonesia. Documentation method was used tocollect the data. All of code mixing found in Interview Cinta Laura with VOAIndonesia was taken to be the data. In finding out the realization of codemixing and its use, the writer recorded theinterview Cinta Laura with VOA Indonesia. In analysing the data, the writerapplied qualitative technique. The result of interview shows that there aretwenty two (22) types of code mixing covering intra lexical code mixing ( 50%),intra sentential code mixing (44,44%), involving a change (5,56%). Thecharacteristics of code mixing are inserting phrase (55%), inserting word(25%), inserting unit hybridization (15%) and inserting reduplication word (5%). All theinterlocutors mixed because : People sometimes prefer to talk about particulartopics (36,84%), interjection or Inserting sentence fillers or sentenceconnectors (26,32%), Intention of clarifying the speech content forinterlocutor (15,79%), being emphatic about something (15,79%) and Repetitionused for clarification (5,26%).Keywords : code mixing ,outercode mixing, inner code mixing, intra- sentential code mixing, intra-lexicalcode mixing, involving a change of pronounciation,
