The Slang Words Used in “American Pie I” Movie A Thesis, Faculty ofEnglish Language and Cultural Studies, Undergraduate Degree (S1) of University of Stikubank Semarang.Supervisor: Agnes Widyaningrum, S.E., S.Pd, M.Pd. The study attempts to analyze andidentify the slangs used in American Pie I movie. This study proposes problemsof the slang words used in the dialogue, the domain and the function of slangwords. Language is not only for spoken activity but also for written ones. Forexample, oral language used in the script movie. That is why the writer focusedon the research about the use of slang words in the movie. Hopefully,this study will be useful for students of English department, especially tohelp them understand the slang words used in American Pie I movie.In order to bring this study intoits purpose, the writer formulates three research problems, those are: what arethe meaning of the slang words used in the dialogues, the domain used in thedialogues, and the function of slang words used in the American Pie I movie.This analysis used libraryresearch and documentary study. The writer analyzed the slang words and themeaning of the slang words from the movie entitled “American Pie I”.From the data that have been analyzed, it was found thatthere are one hundred forty four (144) slang words used in the American Pie 1movie. In addition, domain is the typical utterances that are usedby the speakers. Domain can distinguish the same or different words.Thus, the writer suggests otherresearchers to conduct about this topic in different aspect such as to identifyslang words used in song lyrics or other works. Key Words:Sociolinguistics, Slang, Domain, Film, American Pie I
